MY ENTRY FOR JFI EVENT

TOOR DAL is an indispensable ingredient in Tamilnadu.The first food given to a child is Paruppu sadam.Any festival or funtion the first dish to be served on the Elai(banana leaf) is Toor dal and ghee,and of course all of us are aware of its nutritive value.My recipe is an apt evening snack.

PARUPPU URUNDAI
Ingredients
Toor dal-1/4cup
Chana dal-1/4cup
Moong dal-1/4cup
Raw rice-1/4cup
Small onions-1/2cup finely chopped
Green chilly-3
Ginger-a piece
Grated coconut-1/2cup
Coriander leaves-2tbsp
Curry leaves-a few
Lime juice-1-2tsp
Saunf-1tsp
Salt-as required

Method
Soak the dals and rice together for an hour and grind coarsely with salt with very little water to form a thick paste
To this add all the other ingredients and mix well
Make urundais out of this and steam cook till done
Serve hot with Kara Chutney,the best combination

KARA CHUTNEY
Red chillies-5-10
Garlic-2-6 cloves
Salt-to taste
Grind all the ingredients coarsely
