HEALTH FOOD FOR CHILDREN

Junk food has started to occupy the food habits of children today.It is never too late to change this in our fast lifestyle.Here are some tips and simple recipe for your child's tiffin box.

THE BEST SNACKS
Fruit The most nutritious food on earth and more than half your battle is won if you get your kids to love fruits
Nuts Great source of protein,any nuts raw or just lightly roasted and without salt
Curds A great home snack,keeps the child's digestive system happy and healthy.Jazz it up with mashed banana,boiled potatoes or even cornflakes or puffed rice with a dash of chat masala or pudina chutney.Or just serve plain
Fermented and steamed snacks In Idli and dhoklas cereal and lentil content make them excellent source of protein,carbohydrates and other nutrients
Buttermilk Fruit juices are great but cumbersome to make and often expensive to buy.Buttermilk is cheap,easy to whip up and like curd is fabulously nutritious

SCRAMBLED PANEER ROLL
Ingredients
Rotis-4 leftovers can be usedFresh paneer-1cup crumbled coarsely
Small onion-1 diced finely
Asafoetida-a pinch
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Green chilli-1 chopped(optional)
Coriander leaves-1tbsp finely chopped
Ginger-1/4 piece finely chopped
Oil-1tbsp
Salt to taste

Method
Heat oil and fry onions,ginger,chily,turmeric,salt till onion are just transparent and crunchy
Add paneer and fry till paneer is soft
Add coriander,stir and allow to cool
Warm the rotis and apply little butter
Place about a tablespoon of the scrambled paneer in the centre
Make into rolls,tucking in both ends well so that the filling does'nt fall out
Serve with tomato sauce or pudina chutney

Wow! I dint know buttermilk is nutrititous...will make it part of my afternoon meal....
