Keerai is the Tamil word for Greens.The health benefits of any variety of greens is known to all of us.This is the basic form of making keerai which is given to children just like paruppu sadam/dal rice.Can be had with rice or as side dish for sambar,rasam or curd rice -the traditional Tamilian lunch.Though any variety can be used,mulai keerai is usually preferred

Ingredients
Mulai Keerai/Amaranth-2 cups
Garlic- 5 cloves
Salt-to taste



Method
Take the tender leaves and only very tender stems and wash well
Cook with just enough water with salt and garlic
Cool and grind to fine paste
Serve with rice and ghee for a year old kids

Variations
Siru keerai,pasalai,palak can also be used
The leaves should be raelly tender
Can saute an onion and tomato and grind with the greens
Can season with mustard and urad dal
