PEPPER PEAS MASALA

PEAS is one which can be added with any veggies or legumes.It has a taste of its own and I just love any dish using peas.I learnt this from a friend who had prepared for a party and the peppery taste is great.

Ingredients
Fresh/frozen/dried Peas-250 gms
Onions-2 finely chopped
Tomatoes-3 finely chopped
Tamarind extract-1/4 cup
Oil-for seasoning
Mustard-1tsp
Turmeric powder-1tsp
Salt-to taste
Curry leaves-a few
Coriander leaves-to garnish

To roast and grind
Pepper-2 tsp/as required
Channa dal-2tsp
Dhaniya-3 tsp
Jeera-1tsp
Red chillies-3nos/as required
Coconut gratings-1/4 cup



Method
Heat oil and season with mustard
Add onions and saute,then add tomatoes and turmeric powder and saute well
Put in the peas and mix well,add the tamarind extract and allow to boil
Finally add the ground masala powder,salt,water if needed,simmer and cook covered till done
Serve garnished with chappathi/puri/sandwich/rice
