MIRCH KA SALAN

'Bajji Milagai' as it is known in Tamil is an excellent snack for a rainy day.I knew to make only bajji with this beautiful looking chilly until I came across this recipe of my friend M......published in our POTLUCK SPECIALS which I tried and liked it too.It is a good side dish for chappathi, puri or even rice

Ingredients
Green chillies long baji variety-7-10 make small slits
Chilli powder-1/4-1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-1 -11/2 tsp
Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Tumeric powder-1/4 tsp
Tamarind extract-small lemon size
Salt-to taste
Oil-3 tbsp

Grind to paste
Khus khus-2 tbsp
Coconut grated-1/4 cup

For seasoning
Sesame seeds,mustard seeds,curry leaves,black jeera or kalaunji-a few

Method
Heat oil in a kadai, lightly fry till they change colour, remove and keep aside
In the same oil season the ingredients
Add the paste, chilli, coriander, cumin, turmeric powder and cook till oil separates
Add the fried chillies, tamarind extract and salt and cook for few minutes till oil separates
Serve hot with idli, dosa or chapathi
The stem of the chilli should be retained
This is a semi-dry dish and hence avoid excess addition of water
